Every object, person, and place has its own aesthetic. No matter if it is as simple as a pencil or as complex as an airplane, each thing is made of shapes, shapes that have the potential to inspire. While studying art, a professor told me that there tend to be 3 kinds of artists: artists who focus on color, artists who focus on lines, and artists who focus on shapes. I am definitely an artist who focuses on shapes. Shapes create a sense of space in an artwork, building up distance and substance. I consider myself first and foremost a painter, not a drawer, for the process of painting involves layering shapes together to form an image.
